Being indecisive is actually rooted in self-doubt and apprehension. Or maybe you’re a “people pleaser” so your mind switches as new ideas and new people come into play. Situation 1 = Bad. Situation 2 = Bad.
I struggled with indecisiveness for years! Trying to find my way, I moved all over the country and tried different jobs. I enjoyed many of my experiences as they came, but I also had a deep rooted feeling of uncertainty. However, I always had hope that God would lead me to my true purpose. I must say that in all that uncertainty, I learned to draw closer to God. When I was most alone physically, I was closes to his heart because I trusted him with everything. That place is a beautiful place to be and I hope we all can achieve and continuously experience having him hold us close.
When you understand that life is what you make it you’ll have more freedom to make decisions with confidence. God is not the author of confusion. It does not please his heart for you to be anxious, confused, worried, and double-minded. To overcome your indecisiveness, you must pray, believe, and leave it there. We actually block our flow of blessings when we fall into double-mindedness.
“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the LORD. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.”–James 1: 6-8
Don’t be so caught up on making the right decision that you fail to make a move at all. Honor his ways and he will order your steps and bless you so much that even when things are bad, they will turn out for your good in the end. Next time you find yourself tied up and confused, try this approach:
- pray,
- make a decision, and
- believe that it is already done.
